Hofner 500/2 Club Bass

This is my Hofner 500/2 Club Bass . This hollow-body, single-cutaway Club Bass, which is in mint condition, is not only the real made-in-Germany thing but has the added distinction of being No. 81 of only 100 Hofner 500/2 Reissues made in 2002, the first year of this model's reissue. For the initial run, Hofner selected choice spruce and flame maple. Of course, it has the Hofner 511B "staple magnet" pick-ups, the floating pearloid pick guard, the A2-B control panel, nickel-plated hardware, light sunburst finish, arched top and back, ebony bridge, 22-fret rosewood board with mother-of-pearl dots, Hofner flat-wounds, and the maple-beech-maple neck, all of which are original spec. It weighs about 7 lbs. and with the short scale is a lot of fun and easy to play. Yes, I have the Certificate of Authenticity attesting that this is No. 81 of the 100 produced in 2002, and the winner will find this COA in the original aluminum bullet hard shell case, also in mint condition inside and out, along with the original hang tag and some other case candy. This example has a stunning flamed maple back and a beautiful, pristine select German spruce top of a quality that would have to be special ordered on a new one. I am the original owner and can say that this bass has never left my smoke-free home since I special ordered it from North Coast music in '02.
